Room 303, Wednesday Afternoon

Most people spent this week exercising, taking showers, or, ahem, engaging in other activities. Liara? Liara was just doing what she always did, with about ten times as much focus. It was hardly new for her to channel emotion into learning, and if that learning was especially dedicated this week... it could be a lot worse.

Right now she had several books scattered around the room - a couple on the theorized workings of the multiverse, a couple about human history, a couple about human archaeological findings, one particularly engrossing tome about the architectural roots of this island. She had already read most of them, but there were still several left. And so she sat there on her bed, bent over the book in her lap, scrutinizing each word with intense focus.

All in all, she was not much different this week than she had been the last, or the one before that.

Karolina had been pretty darn aware something there was something going on this week. And she had no focus. Which probably made turning up on this doorstep a bad idea, but she had too much energy to stay still, and well, that led to wandering.

Which led her here.

"Hi."

Liara looked up from her book with the wide eyes of someone who had been reading perhaps a little too long too intensely. "Ah. ...Hi."

Manners? Conversation? Liara?

All of those things were overrated!

Except Liara.

Besides, Karolina waved. After they'd already greeted each other. That was a little... redundant. "What are you doing?" she asked, taking in all the books. "Are you, uh, working on something?"

"No, I simply realized I had a lot of books... and had done almost none of the reading," Liara said. She didn't get up or push the book away because... books.

Books seemed like an excellent thing to pour her focus into right now.

"So I decided to fix that."

Yes. Yes, that was obvious.

"Oh. Cool." Sorry, Karolina was kind of distracted. Liara looked prettier than usual. So, really pretty.

She leaned against the door frame some more. "I can go, if you're wanting to keep reading?"

Reading was becoming a less appealing prospect by the minute. "I... no?"

She paused.

"Oh, Goddess, that came out as a question, didn't it?"

Karolina chuckled. "A little bit, yes."

But it was cute?

"I'm sorry," Liara said, finally throwing caution to the wind - or rather, shoving the book away and siddling over to the edge of the bed. "I am feeling a little out of sorts."

She had always been aware Karolina was lovely, but the fact seemed more pointed than it usually did.

And she wasn't even glowing in pastel colors!

Just leaning awkwardly in the doorway. Fiddling with her hair. "Yeah, I... think that's going around this week."

"It has?" Liara asked.

Then the doorway end of the equation struck her a few moments later (she... might have been looking at something else). "Oh! Would you like to come in?"

"Sure." Because being slightly closer to each other was a great idea under the circumstances, right. She pushed away from the door and took a few actual steps into the room, sticking her hands awkwardly in her pockets. "Very kind of you to invite me."

That was a joke.

"You are my friend," Liara said earnestly, entirely missing the joke. "So is this Fandom playing tricks again?"

Perhaps she should offer Karolina a seat.

"As far as I can tell," Karolina said, shrugging. "Everyone's a little, um... Feeling a little warmer than usual."

Yeul gently knocked on the door frame to let Liara know someone was there.

"Hello Liara," she said, smiling slightly. "Are you too busy for company?"

If she was, that was alright with Yeul.

Liara blinked a few times - adjusting to the different light, mainly. "...No," she settled on, after a brief pause to consider whether or not that was actually the true answer and not simply the polite one. "Please. Come in."

She stepped inside, smiling a little wider. "It was just that I had not spoken with you in a small while," Yeul offered as explanation. "Then there was no reason for me to not come see you."

So here she was.

"Are you well?"

Liara untangled her legs from the precarious mess they were currently knotted into so she could move to the edge of the bed. "I am well," she affirmed. "I have been trying to catch up on my reading. I may have not realized that I was... ah, absent."

"No harm was done while you read," Yeul said, with a shrug of her shoulders. "It took me time to realize it as well."

Yeul and time had a peculiar relationship after all.

"How have you been?" Liara said, because going on about who was primarily responsible for the brief lack of association seemed fairly pointless.

"I have been well." Which was Yeul's standard answer to that sort of question. "Mostly quiet, though I've spent some time with Rapunzel and she is not quiet."

But she was fun and excitable and kind. Yeul liked her.

"Rapunzel?" Liara asked. "I am... not sure if I have met her." If she had, it had been earlier on, back in the days when she had significantly more problems separating one human from another.

"She is in the senior class and has very long hair," Yeul said, thinking of ways to describe Rapunzel. "I'm sure you've seen her around but, yes, it is possible to have not met her."

"You are good friends?" Liara inquired. It... seemed like the sort of thing to inquire about, social graces being what they were.

Yeul looked thoughtful.

"How do you determine if a friend is merely a friend or a good one?" she wondered. It wasn't like she had much experience with that.

... Good question. "I am... not sure."

Don't ask Liara things about social graces. Because she honestly didn't know.

"Logic would assume the length of an acquaintance," she added, "But I'm told logic rarely comes into friendships."
