An Apartment on Thessia, Tuesday

Last week, Liara had managed to get a dial tone. That had excited her more than a little - unfortunately, no one had answered, and so now she was left wondering if there had been a connection after all.

Then mother had caught her with the phone and she'd been scolded for taking a risk by using strange artifacts again, and she'd had to hide it. But now mother's oversight was slacking. She could take the phone again, jab in some numbers...

Ring, ring...

"Well, they have worked out now," she said placidly. "Was there anything in particular you wished to discuss? Or was it just to make sure you could, from your universe?"

"I... did not plan much beyond contacting you, no," Liara said, after a moment. "Should I have?"

"No," Yeul said. "I only wondered. Have you been enjoying being home?"

[fewer_explosions]

"It is both a relief and yet oddly unsettling," Liara admitted. "I... find myself missing some of the independence that I had at Fandom."

[pulseof_life]

"That is understandable," Yeul offered gently. "After being on your own, it can be hard to go back."

[fewer_explosions]

"My mother has laid claim to almost every hour of my day," Liara said, irritation beginning to slip into her voice. "The only reason I am able to have this call now is because she was called away for an urgent meeting."

"She likely missed you," Yeul pointed out carefully. "It is understandable that she would wish to keep you close for some time."

She hesitated a moment. "Would you like me to come visit again? Your mother was not so demanding while I was present. Though perhaps that was because she was still adjusting to your presence at home again."

"Goddess," Liara murmured. She likely should say no - mother might consider this another disruption.

"Yes," she said. "Yes, I would appreciate it very much should you choose to come visit again."

"Then I will," she said simply. "I do not mind. When did you wish me to come?"

"Whenever you have time," Liara said demurely. "I can find openings in mother's schedule at any time, I am sure of it."

[pulseof_life]

"I have very little but time," she said, laughing softly. "I have class tomorrow, but if you wanted I would miss them."

Class did not come anywhere near Yeul's very small list of priorities.

"No, please take your class," Liara said, because for her education was always a priority. "But come see me when you are done."

"If that's what you want me to do," Yeul said agreeably. "Tomorrow afternoon, then? Or would Thursday morning be better?"

[fewer_explosions]

"Tomorrow afternoon," Liara said. "I will tell mother to expect you."

Whether she liked it or not. Liara was due a few fits of maiden rebellion.

"I look forward to seeing both her and yourself again," Yeul replied, smiling. "If there are any difficulties in arranging a portal, I will let you know. Shall I let you try and contact Karolina now?"

"Thank you," Liara said softly. "I look forward to seeing you."

She smiled a little. "Have a good day, Yeul."

"You too!" she said, laughing again. "And you are welcome, Liara. It is no trouble."
