"Goddess," Liara said.

She stared at the enormous stack of supply.

"Goddess," she repeated.

She brought her hand up to her palm. "--Even Caius does not eat this much," she muttered. "How are we going to get rid of all of these rations?"

She was speaking rather metaphorically, to an empty room. The leader of the expedition, idle-minded as she remained, had failed to order rations twice, so Liara had decided to step in and ensure that no one starved to death. Except she was beginning to realize that perhaps she had been somewhat too diligent in placing these orders.

"Yeul?" she called, looking helplessly towards the living areas. "...Are you hungry?"

Yeul looked up from watching Caius repaint her beads for her and, after a moment of thinking about it, she went to go and see what it was that had Liara asking about food.

She was reasonable sure it wasn't time for another meal yet.

"Are you hungry?" she asked, as she toddled over to where Liara's voice had come from. "Is that why you are asking, Liara?"

"...No," Liara said, feeling heavily embarrassed and looking the part. "I... may have over-ordered."

"Oh," Yeul said, since she paid very little attention to the amount of supplies they had. She looked at Liara and at the supplies and said, "Perhaps they'll keep?"

The frown on Liara's face was also a clear indicator that she did not believe so.

"Perhaps," she said dubiously. "I... perhaps Caius will eat more of it? Or would he be afraid he'd gain wei-- no, of course not."

Caius looked amused as he scooped Yeul up and leaned in the doorway.

"Can it be?" he asked. "You made a mistake?"

"I thought I had calculated the numbers correctly!" Liara protested. "But I must have... overestimated what we eat."

Because food was never a very high priority for her.

He chuckled quietly, which made Yeul giggle as she snuggled against him.

"Just a bit," Caius agreed, looking at the supplies. "Can they be sent back for a refund?"

"I... I don't know," Liara admitted.

She stared at the supplies. "I have never communicated with vendors before. Well... not for supply runs."

Yeul looked between Caius and Liara for a moment.

"Caius could help," she said, volunteering him and not bothering to ask for permission. "He would know how."

"I... if he was willing to, I would be grateful," Liara said. "Sarana does not appear to be overtly concerned with our continued ability to function."

Neither was Yeul, really.

"It is good that you care," she said earnestly.

Caius sighed a little.

"I can help," he agreed. "I've done it before."

There were four people on this rock, and only two of them cared about keeping everyone alive. That would end well.

"Thank you," Liara said earnestly. "I am very grateful - I am not sure how to do the--"

She frowned and shut her mouth. "...I, yes. Thank you, Caius."

How could it possibly end poorly?

"It's no problem," he said dismissively. "Is this the lot of it?"

Liara nodded shallowly.

"I did not realize you had been involved in logistics before," she said.

"I have done many things," he said dryly.

"We did not always wander," Yeul said helpfully, when Caius made no move to elaborate. "And it was not always just the both of us."

Liara's eyes drifted from Yeul to Caius and then back. Yeul seemed... more likely to be forthcoming. "What did you do?" she asked.
