2nd floor, Room 18, Monday Morning

It had taken a great amount of vigorous discussion with her mother, but at last Liara had been allowed to return to Fandom. She had not expected to want to do so, at least at first - but several months back had reminded her of all the things on Thessia that made her uncomfortable.

It had also left her missing Yeul and Karolina both.

Of course, it wouldn't be Fandom without being-- well, Fandom, and so she had been somewhat perturbed to be redirected to the ferry when she'd arrived at the island early in the morning. But she had taken it in stride (to a certain degree) and now she was unpacking in her room. Her next class would be soon, according to the schedule. Her unpacking moved quickly as a result.

At least she had been able to bring a few changes of clothes with her, this time around.

Karolina was just exploring the house before class. She'd been up for a while, because she wasn't sleeping at all great here. Because she found her room creepy. And she was currently exploring to see whether the whole place felt like that to her.

In fact, when she ended up at this door, it was because she was kind of stumbling away from the one across the hall, because that one seemed extra creepy. And then, well.

"Liara!"

Well this was a surprise.

Liara perked up immediately.

"Karolina!" she responded, her face practically splitting in two with a grin.

Yeah, Karolina was grinning too. And also kind of bouncing over with her arms extended because a big, tight hug was just the very first instinct she had.

"Oh my God."

"I am sorry it took me this long to come back," Liara got out in a rush, sliding her arms around Karolina in a tight lock the moment she was near enough.

She was not usually physically expressive. Today, she could make an exception.

That was good because Karolina was clinging for dear life.

"It's okay, I mean I worried and my calls didn't go through, but it's okay," she babbled. Oops. "Hi. Welcome back."

"Sorry," Liara managed again. "I attempted to contact you as well, but--"

She let it go. It wasn't important. "Goddess, I am so glad to be back!"

"I'm glad you're back too."

She gave her a tighter squeeze.

And then a soft kiss on the cheek because she was feeling forward like that.

Liara's hand snuck up until it was cupping Karolina's cheek. She was feeling forward, too-- forward enough, no, brash enough, to lean up and press an answering kiss to Karolina's mouth instead.

That was acceptable too. Very acceptable, in fact. So much so that Karolina instinctively curled her fingers into Liara's shirt while kissing her back.

It was a pretty good way of saying hello, after all! Ignore that she'd basically said that earlier, too.

Liara did not exactly mind saying hello a second time. Or a third time, for that matter.

She had known she had missed Karolina, but she had not realized just how much she missed this intimacy as well. Her fingers slid further up until they tangled in Karolina's hair, and she tugged the girl in for a deeper kiss.

Karolina wouldn't object to that. At all. She knew exactly what she'd missed but she was still taken by surprise by the need to keep Liara pulled close to her body right now. As for the deepening kiss, she could respond eagerly, after making a little sound.

It was a good sound.

Also, she'd forgotten about the creepy for the moment, and that was a plus.

Liara let out the smallest sigh, but only when the need for breath became an issue.

Her eyes flicked open again, a tiny smile tugging on her lips. "We should close the door."

Karolina exhaled an almost sheepish little laugh, and nodded. "Yes, we should."

And she could do that. She was just kind of tugging Liara along with her so she could do it.

Liara held no objections to it. She was happy to come along, still feeling brash and glad and if that meant one of her hands settling on Karolina's hip as they neared the door, she doubted she'd hear any complaint.

"I have been home, on Thessia," she said. "But I missed you."

"You were home?" Karolina asked as she nudged the door closed. "Oh my God. How was it?"

And was it some kind of a thing with them to vanish off home during the summer? Apparently it was.

"It was as it had been when I left it," Liara said.

Now it was her turn to take Karolina's hand, tugging her towards the bed. "My mother had been worried. She knows that I am here now, and has consented to let me stay for a time."

"That's great!" she enthused as she followed along easily, giving Liara's hand a little squeeze. "I mean, not that she'd worried. The other part. The part where it's okay for you to be here. I wouldn't want her to worry."

So babbly.

"She is still somewhat concerned," Liara admitted, sitting down. "But... I prefer the island to my school on Thessia. For..."

She smiled another tiny smile. "...a variety of reasons."

Karolina plopped herself down next to her, still hand in hand.

Her smile wasn't all that tiny. "Well, I'm glad you do. Really glad. I missed you."

Liara's smile broadened without her say-so, and she pressed her forehead against Karolina's shoulder, hiding her face. "Did I miss anything?" she asked.

"I don't think so," Karolina replied with a little shake of her head, smiling down at her even if she couldn't see it. "I was the TA in a class about roller coasters. That... is really about it, I think."

"Sounds... peaceful," Liara murmured. "You must have been bored."

[solarhippie]

"Maybe a little," she replied, now lightly resting her head against Liara's. "But not all the time. And I visited LA for a while too, and that's never boring."

Even when you wanted it to.

Liara opened her eyes and glanced up at Karolina's face. "I see you neglected to mention that when I asked you what had happened," she noted, more knowing than chastising. "What happened?"

Karolina shrugged her shoulder. The other one.

"Nothing that interesting?" she offered. "I mean, nothing unusual. There were bad guys, and we took care of it."
